Pokerstars Changes Rake Structure

Pokerstars changed the rake structure from “dealt” to “weighted contributed”. With the dealt method players only needed to be dealt into the hand to receive some of the rewards from the rake in the pot. However, now with the weighted contributed the players that build up the pot are the only ones rewarded.

By doing this Pokerstars have saved some money because it reduced the amount of rewards the high volume players are receiving given they tend to be the poker players that play the tightest. Playing super is the only way to play 20+ tables at one time and not lose your whole bankroll.

This move by Pokerstars have really pissed off the high volume players because they will receive less rewards (in other terms less rakeback). However, this will give losing players more rewards keeping them happy and depositing more money into the largest online poker room on the internet. The more fish on the site the more the sharks are happy so the noise all the high volume players are making right now will die down on the forums soon enough as they will notice more and more fish on Pokerstars.
